Globally, laser surgery is considered the first-line treatment option for varicose veins. It involves the use of a laser beam powerful enough to deliver a thermal ablative dose into a diseased vein. This seals the vein and helps restore healthy circulation.
Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherpay
Injecting a medical adhesive into varicose & spider veins remains the gold standard for the treatment of significant venous disease. The foam glues the walls of the affected vein together and is an effective accompaniment to Endovenous Laser Ablation.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy & Micro-ligation
The use of micro-surgical and minimally invasive methods are often required as an essential adjunct to the overall management of severe varicose veins. These services are provided on a strictly walk-in walk-out basis.

How much does it Cost? Will Medicare or Private insurance cover it?Most of the services provided by the HealthiVein group attract a Medicare rebate. It is important that you get a referral from your doctor to be able to claim Medicare. Basic hospital cover, provided by all private health funds, covers the operating theatre expenses. In addition, some health funds provide rebates for items such as compression stockings. Depending on your treatment, our staff will be able to tell you what your out-of-pocket expenses will be. Is Laser better than surgery?Absolutely. Using lasers is one of the latest developments in vein treatment. The fine laser probe is inserted into the diseased varicose vein and the tip of the laser is revealed as it is withdrawn, which closes off the vein. This procedure is done with a local anaesthetic. It is a minimally invasive technique used for treating varicose veins and spider veins. Laser isn’t as painful than Vein Surgery (Ligation and Stripping) because it is less invasive and it has a shorter recovery time.

Do I need to stay in hospital?No. All treatments are done with day surgery. There is no need for bed rest. The treatment is often referred to as walk–in, walk–out because patients are literally required to walk immediately after treatment.

Will abnormal leg veins progressively worsen?Veins are unable to repair themselves and if left un-treated will worsen over time.

Do the varicose veins come back after treatment?No. When varicose veins are treated properly, they DO NOT come back. This must not be confused with new veins corrupting, which are more than likely to occur and more so if the patient has some predisposition.

ARE ALL UNSIGHTLY LEG VEINS ABNORMAL?Yes. Any vein which does not assist with the return of blood to the heart is abnormal and may require treatment.
